2014 Estates Reserve Riesling

2014 Estates Reserve Riesling
93 Points, Wine Enthusiast

"Finished off dry, this masks its residual sugar with ample acidity. Some portion of the Winery's numerous individual Riesling lots is barrel fermented, and here there are unmistakable highlights of caramel. On the palate it's smooth and rich, with wide-open flavors of peach and pear." - Paul Gregutt, Wine Enthusiast

Tasting Notes

Richly scented with aromas of lemon oil, butterscotch, and exotic spice. Round flavors of sweet honeycrisp apple, pear, and juicy peach are balanced by bright meyer lemon and candied ginger. Beautiful acidity rounds out the refreshing sweetness, lingering on the long, smooth finish. This reserve bottling has the elements to last the ages.

Production Notes
2014 Vintage Notes: The 2014 vintage was warm, sunny, and dry, leading to one of the earliest and most plentiful harvests we’ve ever seen. Riesling fruit was harvested by hand in two separate picks : the first in mid-September for higher acidity and again at the end of September & first two weeks of October for ripeness and aromatics. All Riesling was fermented in small individual lots in a mixture of stainless steel barrels, oak barrels, oak puncheons, and concrete eggs. Fermentation occurred over a 6-week period in a temperature-controlled environment utilizing a combination of indigenous and cultured yeasts.
